Adobe has always been traditionally a conservative company, and it's even more so after it's acquisition of Macromedia. It's got so big so the amount of bureaucracy and meetings is getting less tolerable. They're pretty late in the internet game and are still playing catch up.
Having that said, adobe treats their employees VERY well. They have a very fair quarterly bonus and profit-sharing program, based on measurable criteria that we can actually do something about. We're rewarded stocks for good work and 5 weeks of vacation. Adobe is just very ethical and keeps their employees happy. Not every successful company treats employees so well like they do.
