When you first walk in the Apple campus, you can easily tell the difference in morale from other companies. People are relaxed (though the work is actually pretty stressful, we'll get to that later) and seem to be having fun at work. The reason is that here you'll get to see new products going to market every year. It is amazing that people wait hours in line just to buy a mac or an iPhone. You may not directly work on these hottest products, but you still feel the hype and excitement.
Some people here are not nice. They're competent people, but they're mean at times. An even bigger problem is the lack of process. Work is extremely inefficient, while upper management still demands extremely high quality in the products. Expectation plus lack of process translate to a great amount of stress. People wasted a lot of time doing things that wouldn't even be needed with the right process.
When you interview, make sure you ask about the process, pick a good team and then you will be happy. If you can get stock options, pay is very good. The return can very well be much higher than your salary. But all in all, working on great products trumps everything else, and I'm definitely happier than my previous jobs.
