Google is an ideal work environment. The people are young, passionate, and intelligent. The culture is very open internally were projects are discussed and ideas flow. The founders Larry and Sergey play a hands-on role in the day-to-day operations of the company, which help keep the company true to its original vision.
The only drawbacks of working at Google is that it is getting large. Although it tries to advertise itself as a startup-feel, like any company with more than 1000 people nimbleness and risk-taking are things that eventually you see less of.
