People here, both managers and developers, are very competent and could help you progress to your next level in your professional life. You'd be amazed how smart the people are. By the same token, people are very smart here so you have to be really good and confident with yourself. The work is challenging, and if not managed well, you can easily get overworked and exhausted. Meanwhile, I really feel proud whenever I accomplish some difficult tasks, because I know I've just done something that made impact. Information is shared across subsidiaries, and there's really a ton of information out there for you to take advantage of.
Internal transferred is allowed, and as most huge companies go, groups within the company could be very different in terms of culture and management. You can apply to move to other groups if you don't like your current team, or find work in other teams interesting. No other company has efforts in as many diverse areas (from games to compilers to robotics to security to internet to ,of course, Windows and Office). If you're interested in software, there must be something out there for you. It really just boils down to whether you're smart enough to meet their expectation.
