I recommend Oracle as a good employer to work for. For sure in such a large company there are a lot of layers of management, and it is not easy if you're looking for quick promotion. Seniority plays a part in your assessment. But it definitely adds value to my career. The brand recognition of the second largest software company in the world is great. People I know who are pursuing work in other companies almost get an interview for ever one of their job applications. Headhunters will automatically come to you as well. Having been in Oracle really adds value to your career in future.
The work environment has a no-pressure, hands-free culture. No daily attendance is required so you can feel free to work home. The details depends on the manager. In some of the teams the products really make a difference to the customers, and you're very motivated to work on it. Some teams don't. But the general company fosters a very good atmosphere. We have team get-togethers every month, to have BBQ, boat trips and stuff. The managers are pretty reasonable and wont' demand for ridiculous deadlines.
