Oracle is a solid, stable company. It is fairly innovative, and daring to make changes considering its huge size. We have been acquiring lots of companies in recent years. Some of them are the best in their species, and has a lot of customers. Tying them all together makes Oracle an even stronger company that has so much talent, resources, and potential customers. On the other hand, having so many new subsidiaries makes us look like many companies within one big conglomerate.
People here are generally smart and talented, and have a great deals of experience. Some really helpful mentors to work with, from whom you can learn a lot about software, business, sales and marketing. Politics is somewhat inevitable given the huge size of the company.
As Oracle spends a lot of cash on acquisitions, pay rise is virtually nonexistent over the past few years. Make sure you negotiate a good starting salary. Having that said, 401k and the other benefits are awesome.
